Intersectorialidad en el manejo de las afecciones reumáticas / Intersectoriality in the managment of rheumatic disceaces

La centralización de la atención sanitaria y social en el paciente es una cuestión de primer orden en la percepción de la calidad, la salud, la calidad asistencial y la satisfacción del abordaje de las enfermedades reumáticas. En la actualidad, para alcanzar metas superiores en salud pública y mejorar la calidad de su práctica, se trabaja en el perfeccionamiento de la intersectorialidad como tecnología imprescindible para preservar y generar la salud en la población. En esta comunicación se relacionan ejemplos donde se evidencia la intersectorialidad, en función de facilitar la promoción y el logro de los objetivos comunes en varias áreas. Dada las particularidades de las patologías reumáticas, los profesionales de la salud enfrentan verdaderos retos en su manejo; de esta manera se mantienen en constante relación cada vez más intersectorial y profundamente con los otros actores, como los productores de tecnologías, los laboratorios y la industria farmacéutica(AU)

The centralization of the sanitary and social attention in the patient is a question of first order in the perception of the quality, the health, the assistance quality and the satisfaction of the boarding of the rheumatic diseases. Actually, to reach superior goals in public health and to improve the quality of their practice, one works in the improvement of the intersectoriality like indispensable technology to promote the health in the population. In this communication there were related examples where the intersectoriality is evidenced, in function of facilitating the promotion and the achievement of the common objectives in several areas. Based in the particularities of the rheumatic pathology, the health care professionals face true challenges in their handling; this way they stay in constant more and more intersector relationship and deeply with the other actors, as those producing of technologies, the laboratories and the pharmaceutical industry(AU)

Desafíos y alternativas de la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas Cubana / Challenges and Alternatives of the University of Cuban Medical Sciences

RESUMEN Introducción: la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas enfrenta desafíos en su labor, a su vez se beneficia de elementos que contribuyen de manera positiva al cumplimiento de su misión. Objetivos: identificar algunos aspectos que pueden considerarse retos que enfrenta la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas Cubana y proponer algunas alternativas a ellos. Materiales y métodos: se realizó un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal en la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas "Miguel Enríquez", La Habana, marzo 2017. El universo quedó constituido por 20 profesores pertenecientes al departamento de Estomatología General Integral, a los que se les aplicó una encuesta. Resultados: el total de encuestados opinó que el bloqueo económico impuesto por Estados Unidos, así como la presencia de pocos profesores con categoría principal e investigativa, poca orientación vocacional brindada a estudiantes y pobre posibilidad en el uso de las tecnologías de la información y comunicación constituyen retos a los que se enfrenta la universidad. Algunas alternativas propuestas son; mejorar las condiciones de las unidades dentales dedicadas a la docencia (85%), incrementar el uso de la información científica (80%) y acrecentar la labor en la orientación vocacional. Conclusiones: los profesores con categoría de instructor y con menos años de experiencia identificaron más desafíos. Los profesores auxiliares y con más de 10 años de experiencia fueron los que brindaron alternativas para compensar estas dificultades (AU).

Introduction: the University of Medical Sciences faces challenges in its daily work and at the same timethis institution benefits from elements that positively contribute to fulfill its mission. Objective: toidentify some aspects considered as challenges faced by the Cuban University of Medical Sciences and to propose some alternatives as well. Materials and methods: A transversal and a descriptive study was carried out at the "Miguel Enríquez" Faculty of Medical Sciences, Havana City, March 2017. The universe was composed of twenty professors who belong to the Integral General Stomatology Department and who were also surveyed. Results: all of them agree that the U.S. economic blockade, the lack of professors with research and maindegrees, little vocational guidance and the few possibilities to have access to information and communication technologies result in challenges faced by the university. Some proposed alternatives are:to improve the dental unit conditions (85%), to increase the use of scientific information (80%) and to foster the students' vocational guidance (70%). Conclusions: instructing professors with less years of experience identified more challenges. More alternativesso as to compensate these challenges were offered by the auxiliary professors with more than 10 years of experience (AU).

Relación de la salud bucal con la familia y el estomatólogo / Association of the oral health with the family and the dentist

La familia es un elemento activo y mediador en las relaciones de los individuos con la sociedad. Es el componente estructural más pequeño de la sociedad, pero de vital significación. Los estomatólogos deben conocer la situación de salud de las familias en su comunidad, sus peculiaridades, sistema de valores, costumbres, tradiciones, situaciones por las que atraviesan, así podrá dirigir su trabajo de promoción y educación para la salud bucal hacia ella. Con el objetivo de profundizar en la relación de la familia y el estomatólogo, en la salud bucal de la población, se realizó una consulta bibliográfica de 60 artículos a través de bibliotecas, Infomed, Pubmed, Scielo, y se seleccionaron 35 artículos, para lo cual se tuvo en cuenta para su inclusión la actualidad y la relación con el tema. Se llegó a la conclusión de que en la medida en que el individuo y la familia valoren y participen en la preservación de la salud, se obtendrán mejores resultados en el futuro. Se debe continuar perfeccionando la cultura sobre la salud bucal de la familia y en esta actividad es de vital importancia el trabajo de los estomatólogos ya que son los que guían y orientan la elevación del nivel de educación(AU)

In the relationship between the individuals and the society, the family plays an active and functional role. Even though the family is the smallest structural component of society, it has vital significance. Dentistry specialists should know as much as possible the health situation in the community, the peculiarities, the system of values, customs and traditions, the existing situations, so that they might focus the promotion and educational work in oral health on its members. With the objective of delving into the relationship between the family and the dentist, a literature review was made in Infomed, Pubmed and Scielo. From 60 articles, 35 were selected on the basis of updating and linking to the topic. It was concluded that as the individual and the family assess and participate in oral health preservation in a greater extent, the future results will be better. Education on oral health must be upgraded, and for this, the work of dentists is of vital importance, since they are responsible for guiding and giving orientations to raise the educational level in this field(AU)

El estudiante de estomatología y su esfuerzo en el aprendizaje / The student of Stomatology and its effort in learning

Para que los alumnos sean capaces de enfrentar las diferentes tareas que la facultad les plantea es necesario que asuman un papel activo en el desarrollo de todas las actividades. Se realizó un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal, con el objetivo de caracterizar el proceso de aprendizaje de los estudiantes de primer año de la carrera de Estomatología del Policlínico Universitario Hermanos Ruiz Aboy, perteneciente al municipio San Miguel del Padrón, La Habana, en el periodo de septiembre de 2008 a febrero de 2009. El universo estuvo constituido por los 30 estudiantes de primer año de la carrera de Estomatología. A estos se les aplicó una encuesta por los autores. Se observó que el 63,3 por ciento obtuvo el ingreso a través del preuniversitario en el campo, el 60 por ciento escogió la carrera por vocación y a su vez fueron estos los que mejores resultados académicos obtuvieron, y el 40 por ciento mantenía un buen hábito de estudio con un buen rendimiento académico además. Se concluyó que más de la mitad de los estudiantes ingresados obtuvieron la carrera por vocación y que fueron estos los que mejores resultados académicos alcanzaron. Los que ingresaron a la carrera a través del preuniversitario en el campo y los del curso de superación integral fueron los que presentaron peor hábito de estudio(AU)

The student must to be able to face the different tasks that Faculty pose, thus it is necessary that they play an active role in the development of all activities. A cross-sectional and descriptive study was conducted to characterize the learning process of the first year students of Stomatology career from the Hermanos Ruiz Aboy University Polyclinic of San Miguel del Padrón municipality. La Habana from September, 2008 to February, 2009. Universe included 30 students of first year of Stomatology career who were polled by the authors. The 63,3 percent was admitted by means of the countryside high school, the 60 percent choosed the career by vocation and at its turn were they with the best academic results achieved and the 40 percent also remains the study habit with a good academic performance. We concluded that more than a half of entered students had vocation for the career with the best academic results. Those entered to career through the countryside high school and those from the integral overcoming had the poor study habit(AU)

Importancia de la familia en la salud bucal / Significance of family in the oral hygiene

La familia es un elemento activo y mediador en las relaciones de los individuos con la sociedad. Es el componente estructural más pequeño de la sociedad pero de vital significación. Los estomatólogos deben conocer la situación de salud de las familias en su comunidad, sus peculiaridades, sistema de valores, costumbres, tradiciones y situaciones por las que atraviesa. Esto les permitirá orientar su trabajo sobre la base de las dificultades encontradas. Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica con el objetivo de enunciar el papel y la responsabilidad de la familia ante la salud bucal, así como expresar el papel del estomatólogo ante la salud bucodental de la comunidad. Se llegó a la conclusión de que en la medida en que el individuo y la familia valoren y participen en la preservación de la salud, se obtendrán mejores resultados en el futuro. Se debe continuar en la labor de perfeccionar la cultura sobre la salud bucal de la familia y que en esta actividad es de vital importancia el trabajo de los estomatólogos, ya que son los que guían y orientan para elevar el nivel de educación para la salud bucal(AU)

The family is an active element and mediator in relationships of subjects with society. It is the smaller structural component of the society, but it is a vital significance. Stomatologists must to know the health status of the families in community, its particular features, value system, habits, traditions and situations went through. It will allow them to direct its work on the base of the found difficulties. A bibliographic review was conducted to formulate the role and responsibility of family in face of oral health, as well as to express the stomatologist role in the buccodental health of community. We conclude that insofar as the subject and its family to value and be involved in the health preservation, better results will be obtained in the future. It is necessary to continue in the task to improve the culture on oral health in the family and that in this activity it is essential the stomatologist role since they are who guide and to orient population to raise the educational level related to oral health(AU)
